Margaret S. Wooldridge, 2013

Energy Science and Innovation: For the development and application of novel experimental methods that elucidate critical chemical and physical interactions during ignition, and for advancing understanding in combustion chemistry science impacting engine performance.

Margaret S. Wooldridge is honored for her development and application of novel experimental methods to elucidate critical chemical and physical interactions during ignition, and for advancing understanding in combustion chemistry science impacting engine performance. Her experiments to generate real time, realistic data on combustion systems for both ignition of systems, as well as the products of reaction, sets a new standard for interrogation of high speed, complex ignition processes. These studies advance understanding in ignition phenomena relevant to consumer internal combustion (IC) engine driven vehicles, jets, and a wide range of transportation applications using biofuels.
