CITI Courses

DOE offers online training on protecting human subjects in research, at no cost to its DOE Headquarters and field human subjects protection program leads, Institutional Officials, IRB Chairs, Administrators, and Members, and DOE/DOE laboratory researchers. DOE also offers such training to researchers from organizations outside of DOE who are funded by DOE Headquarters or DOE laboratories to do human subjects research.
This training is provided by the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative, or CITI.
If you fall into one of the roles listed above, it will be important that you take this, or comparable, training prior to beginning such work and every three years thereafter.
To access the training:

  1. Register by “creating an account.”
  2. When prompted to select an organization, select “Other DOE,” or, if your organization has its own link, select that.
  3. Once you have received your login information, you can begin the course.

The Central DOE IRBs’ expectations for training are included in HRP-422. Forms are available in the IRB system Library. For more information or with questions, please contact the IRB Administrator with questions.
